Behavioral changes in air quality and environmental issues

Reducing both indoor and outdoor air pollution depends on changing the behaviour of many groups of people, from citizens to politicians. This requires understanding what influences each of these behaviours. A simple yet comprehensive model of behaviour that helps one identify what needs to change in order to change a behaviour in a particular context is the COM-B model. It states that for a given behaviour to occur, the person needs to have the Capability, the Opportunity and the Motivation to enact it. This provides the basis for identifying which type of intervention or policy is likely to be effective in changing that behaviour, using the Behaviour Change Wheel framework.
